10/4/2020· The only ball bearing lock knife I own is a G10 Manix 2, but it’s never come close to opening in my pocket. It’s certainly more secure in the closed position than either a compression lock or a liner lock. I agree with others that the back lock has the strongest closing bias. But the BBL comes a close second.

The ball bearing lock will operate without a liner as the ball does not have ends that need to be housed in a liner. A liner can be used for added strength, but it is not part of the ball bearing lock.

IDK about the axis lock but the ball bearing lock is self-adjusting, meaning as the ball/tang wear, the ball will just advance slightly while still retaining the strong lockup with no play.
